MECHA was founded in 1985 so that Latino families in Mercer County would not be left out of the services they need. For forty years we have taught English, prepared neighbors for citizenship, and translated between Spanish and English. Parents come to us when language, transportation, and a long wait for a specialist stand between them and help for a child.
Working partnership
Early developmental outreach, with Nickan Scientific.
MECHA supports Nickan Scientific’s QuietScan program in two concrete ways. We will bring information on early developmental screening into our community education and parent workshops, in Spanish and English. We will help reach families we already know for any future research or pilot, under appropriate institutional review.
We do not make the device. We do not practice medicine. QuietScan is investigational: not FDA cleared, not for sale, not a treatment, and not a diagnosis.

The Mercer County Hispanic Association (MECHA) was founded in 1985 to establish and ensure that adequate representation and services are provided to meet the needs of the Latino population of Mercer County. MECHA’s mission is to provide and/or facilitate access to social services and advocate on behalf of community members. MECHA serves people in need from all communities in Mercer County, working to provide them with the skills and services necessary to promote self-sufficiency.
